    Election 2020

    Elections to the Dental Council and Auxiliary Dental Workers Committee

    The notice of the elections to the Dental Council and to the Auxiliary Dental Workers Committee was published on 4 September 2020. Under Section 9(1)(c) of the Dentists Act seven members of the Council are appointed by election of fully registered dentists. Elections are also being held under Section 13(7) of the Dentists Act to elect one representative of each class of auxiliary dental worker to membership of the Auxiliary Dental Workers Committee. The schedule for the elections is set out below:

    Once a Nomination Form has been received by the Returning Officer a candidate may request an electronic copy of the register. Requests should be made to the Returning Officer by e-mail to the e-mail address below and must include the candidate’s name, registration number, address and day time phone number.

    Information for Electorate

    If the number of candidates nominated exceeds the numbers to be elected then a poll will be taken by the Returning Officer. In order to vote you must be fully registered in the relevant register and the poll is held by postal ballot.

    Under the Council rules your ballot paper must be posted to you within 10 days of nominations closing so you should receive your ballot papers by 9 October 2020 at the latest. You will receive both a ballot paper and a declaration of identity and both must be properly completed in order for your vote to count. Instructions on completed both will be included with your ballot paper when it is posted to you.

    The list of nominated candidates will be available on the Dental Council website and at the Council’s offices at 57 Merrion Square, Dublin 2 from 4pm on 1 October 2020.
