Dental Council Elections
The Notice of Elections for the Dental Council elections was published on 1 September, and we are starting to receive nominations. If you are interested in running, the nomination period runs until 1pm on 24 September. Information on the election process can be found here.
A ballot will be held if there are more candidates that positions available. We will ask candidates to provide a short biography to us and we will publish these on our website. We will also make an electronic copy of the register available to all candidates standing. You should note however, that the register does not contain email addresses.
Putting your name in front of your professional colleagues can seem a daunting prospect and as is the size of the potential electorate. If you are interested in standing, you should consider what section of the register would be your natural ‘constituency’ (for example, public sector dentists if you work in the HSE, EU qualified dentists if you are a dentist from Europe, colleagues from the same geographical area etc.).
If you are interested in running, you are welcome to contact the Registrar, David O’Flynn if you would like to know more about the Dental Council and the workload. If you would like to talk to the registrar, you can either drop an email to doflynn@dentalcouncil.ie or ring the office.
